Summer is just around the corner and this can be a time that many forget about their boilers, gas systems, and plumbing. However, summer can be an essential time to prepare for the next winter, for example, gas safety checks are essential all year round and should be done annually. Here are a few tips on what you can be doing this summer to get on top of your systems...
-
Run your central heating over summer
At least once a month during summer, you should run your central heating. Otherwise, the pump and diverter valve that circulates fluid around your radiators can become seized up, this will get the hydraulic components moving. Inactivity is one of the biggest causes of boiler failure so be sure to run your central heating this summer.

Boiler and gas safety check
Summer can be the perfect time to have a boiler and gas safety check scheduled. The benefits to having a check done during this season are that there are generally shorter waiting times as usually people only think about this aspect of their home during colder months. Additionally, it can make it easier for boilers to be checked thoroughly without the pressure of the cold weather. Moreover, by getting a boiler and gas safety check in summer, you could avoid the need for emergency repair during winter.

Washing machine
In summer, washing can seem endless and so it's important to give your washing machine a break and inspect the machine hoses and overall structure. It’s best to ensure that your machine is still functioning correctly as many rubber washing machine hoses are said to need replacement every 3 years.
Summer is a great time to save some money on those energy bills that come in heavy during the winter months. Moreover, this makes it the perfect time to use that extra money to ensure that your systems are running smoothly before winter next hits.
